When Tinku Paras made away jewellery from his employer, former actor and MP Nitish Bharadwaj's home, he thought he'd literally struck gold. But the 25-year-old domestic help was stumped when he found that the earrings and bracelet he had stolen were fakes worth only Rs 4,500.
Not knowing what else to do, he came back to work a few days later, only to be nabbed by the Gamdevi police for the theft.

Although the jewellery was fake, the couple told the Gamdevi Police station and a case was registered.
When they also realised that their servant Tinku Paras alias Parthare, a Worli resident, was missing, they grew suspicious and informed the police.
After a few days, when Paras returned to work out of the blue, he was picked up by the cops from his Worli house later that day. He confessed during interrogation.
"When the accused realised that the stolen articles were fake and can't be sold in the grey market, he kept it at home and started attending work as usual. We picked him up on the basis of suspicion. He has accepted to the crime," the officer added.
Both Nitish and his wife were unavailable for comment.
