Supreme Court stays Ayodhya verdict by a week to Sept 28

A day ahead of the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi verdict, the Supreme Court has decided to push the judgement by a week, saying the deferment is in public interest, reports CNBC-TV18’s Bhupendra Chaubey.
The apex court stayed the verdict while hearing a special leave petition filed by Ram Chandra Tripathi, and posted the matter for further hearing to September 28.
A three-judge Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court headed by Justice RV Raveendran was to deliver the Ayodhya verdict tomorrow.
Observing deferment in public interest, the Supreme Court has sent notices to all parties of the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute.
As a measure of abundant caution in the face of the verdict, the Government on Wednesday ordered a ban on bulk SMS and MMS across the nation for three days with immediate effect. “This ban has come into effect after holding talks with the Home Minister,” the telecom ministry has said.
