Monsoon special: Anushka Sharma

Monsoon special: Anushka Sharma

The rains are here! The sun is on its annual leave. Just the perfect time to put your work on the back burner and sit by the window watching the heavens open up with some masala chai and hot pakodas for company or go a long bike ride with your beloved. But there’s a flip side to it. The romance of the season comes with a reality check. Water clogged roads, muck on the streets, dampness all around, high humidity, frizzy hair, wet clothes, smudged make-up, oily skin… the list is endless. But there’s good news. Starting todya Filmfare gets our B town divas to let you in on their solutions to some rain related problems. They can really swivel around fashionably even in gunk. Have a problem with your make-up or hair? No worries. Just read on. Now, if you’re taking tips you’d rather take it from the experts, right?

Prancing in the rain: Anushka Sharma

I prefer sticking to good quality cotton outfits and avoid fabrics that have a tendency to stick to the skin during rains. Bold colours, bright gumboots; anything that uplifts your mood on a gloomy rainy day.

As for shoes I like to keep it comfortable with closed shoes, flats and gumboots.

I keep my make-up waterproof and preferably not there at all.

My skin around this time is cleansed regularly. One must eat right and drink lots of water to flush out the toxins. Moisturise your body with a light moisturiser to stay hydrated.

I like to wear my hair with a serum to avoid frizziness and tie it up as much as possible.  A lot of people don’t realise it but the high levels of humidity dehydrate the hair. Since you wash your hair more often, make sure you oil it before washing to maintain its softness.

Romance is in the air and sharing an umbrella with someone is my fondest memory.

When it’s raining I like to have pakoras, bhuttas, chai and sit at home doing nothing.

My workouts cannot be excused just because it’s raining and yours shouldn’t be either! Eat everything in moderation and exercise indoors if you can’t go out.

Expert speak for the day:

Pooja Makhija – Nutrition consultant
“Monsoons tend to bring out one’s naughty cravings for fried food. Play smart and swap the calorie laden bhajiyas and batata wadas for a cup of boiled corn or a toasty sandwich, sure to satisfy your ‘potato and spice’ yearnings minus the grease. tSpice up the gloomy days with some steaming idlis, uttapams or hot rasam. Boiled chanas or a chatpata roadside bhutta makes for a good snack too.”

Deepika is the new Juliet?

Deepika Padukone
After Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s comment that no married woman could be his Juliet, and Kareena Kapoor walking out of the movie citing contractual differences, the role of the legendary lover in his Ram Leela was up for grabs. Apparently, Bhansali wanted Priyanka Chopra and later Katrina Kaif to play the role. But as the role supposedly was about a character who was fair, Kat was preferred. But she didn’t have the dates. As Deepika Padukone had the dates, SLB was more than happy to have the Cocktail girl play his Juliet.
