The BJP is reportedly unhappy about the defeat of its candidate Shashil Namoshi at its strong base in Gulbarga South. Mr Namoshi was defeated by a margin of over 3,000 votes and the JD (S) candidate Aruna Paitl won the election.
The BJP is likely to set up core committee to probe the reasons for the partys debacle in the Gulbarga south. 'A meeting of party leaders will be held Saturday to discuss the issue,' Yeddyurappa told reporters Friday on his return from a five-day trip to China to attend the World Economic Forum meeting.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, after a five-day China trip, arrived here on Friday morning. Home Minister VS Acharya was at the airport to receive the CM. Soon after landing, Mr Yeddyurappa spoke to the media about his China trip.
When asked about the Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda's resignation over his alleged involvement in the two state-run medical college recruitment scam, Yeddyurappa said that he'll accept Gowda's resignation and will forward it to the Governor.
He said after hosting successful Global Investors Meet, the Karnataka Government has decided to play host to Agri Investors Meet in January next year. Mr Yeddyurappa said the proposed Agri Investors Meet would showcase investment opportunities in the field of Agriculture in Karnataka.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said on September 26, he held a meeting with Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
The delegation lead by Minister for large and medium Industries held discussions with Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
It is an organization that creates opportunities by promoting global trade of goods and services and connects the worlds small and medium sized business through Hong Kongs business platform. Honble Minister invited the investors to invest in Karnataka.
He highlighted the investment opportunities in Karnataka and assured all the support for their project. The delegation also discussed the high density development , venture capital funding, etc. The Mr Raymond Yip , Assistant Executive Director informed that a delegation is visiting Mumbai next month to explore investment oppertunities. Honble Minister invited them to visit Bangalore also.
Mr Yeddyurappa said the Zimbabwe Deputy Prime Minister, Prof Arther Mutambara, who also participated in the event, had proposed a joint session on Zimbabwe-karnataka during the proposed Agri Investors Meet. The Zimbabvae leader also sought help from Karantaka in providing skill training to the youth of his country.
Informing that Karnataka was the only state from the country which got invitation to participate at the World Economic Forum he said ''this had reaffirmed the status of Karnataka as one of the most dynamic and fast growing regions in the country''.
Mr Arunachalam, the Chairman of Indian Chamber of Commerce also participated in the meeting. Mr Dennis Lau, President of Association of Architectural practices shared his experiences of High Density development.
Mr VP Baligar, Principal Secretary C&I and Dr Rajkumar Khatri, Commissioner for Ind Development, Mr KS Shivaswamy, Managaing Director of Karnataka Udyog Mitra and other officers were present.
Cong should shed its vindictive politics
Spurred by the Congress' dismal show in the by-elections for two assembly seats, Mr Yeddyurappa asked the principal Opposition party to shed its ''inimical attitude'' towards his government and work as a "constructive opposition".
He said Congress had engaged itself in vindictive politics in the past two years and adopted an intolerant attitude towards the BJP government. "Congress tried to mislead people by levelling baseless allegations," he said, a day after the outcome of the bypolls, in which BJP and JDS shared a seat each. Congress not only conceded one seat, but was also relegated to third spot.
"I am even now willing to discuss with Congress issues pertaining to development," Yeddyurappa said. He said the electorate in Gulbarga and Kadur constituencies had rejected the ''vindictive politics'' of Congress and also its 320-km padayatra against BJP''s alleged misrule.
Homage to Pandit Gawai
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today condoled the death of doyen of Hindustani music Pandit Puttaraja Gawai, who died due to illness in Gadag today.
Paying rich tribute to the noneganerian musician, he said Pandit Gawai was a great teacher and saint from Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters he said Pandit Gawai had contributed his might to educate thousands of blind children in his Veerashwara Punyashram and enlighten the world of music.
"The state government wanted to confer 'Karnataka Ratna' to Pandit Gawai but the fate had its say. We are deeply disappointed," he added.
