Persistent Systems wins corporate governance award

Pune-based Persistent Systems, an outsourced software product development company, announced it was recognised as one of the top five companies for excellence in corporate governance at the 10th national award ceremony for 2010 instituted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) in New Delhi last week.
“Persistent Systems was conferred on the certificate of recognition for the company’s dynamic leadership in imbibing a culture of good governance practices in the organisation. The jury headed by former chief justice of India, RC Lahoti, also appreciated the contribution made by company secretary Vivek Sadhale in advising the company towards promoting good governance practices and procedures,’’ said a press release.
“It is a matter of great pride for us to be recognised by the ICSI and to receive the certificate of recognition for our corporate governance practices in the first year of being a listed company,’’ said chairman and managing director of Persistent Systems, Anand Deshpande.
The certificate was received by Sadhale on behalf of Persistent Systems Ltd, from Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The ICSI national award for excellence in corporate governance was instituted in 2001 to identify, foster and reward the culture of evolving globally acceptable standards of corporate governance among Indian companies.
