Bhopal: A five-member team of the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) conducted a surprise raid on the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Bhopal on Saturday in the wake of the recent doping scandal.
The raid comes a week after the NADA raided SAI centre in Bangalore. Earlier this month the authority had raided Patiala based National Institute of Sports (NIS).
The crackdown is in response to the worst doping scandal in the country in which eight athletes were tested positive for banned performance enhancement drugs.
Mandeep Kaur, Sini Jose and Ashwini Akkunji, who were part of the 4x400m relay quartet winning the gold medal in the Commonwealth and Asian Games last year were tested positive for anabolic steroids.
Juana Murmu, Tiana Mary Thomas and Priyanka Panwar were also caught for doping in tests conducted at NIS.
