The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded an ‘impartial’ and ‘honest’ investigation in the Kaviyoor and Kiliroor sex scandals.
Addressing media persons here, BJP spokesperson George Kurian alleged that attempts were being made by both the UDF and the LDF to protect the guilty in the Kaviyoor case. “Although they are political rivals, the fronts have tried to scuttle the investigation. Former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had gone back on his promise to bring those responsible to justice. He owes the public the reason for having backtracked on his words,” said Mr. Kurian.
A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Ernakulam had criticised the investigating team for its inept handling of the Kaviyoor mass suicide case on Monday.
Mr. Kurian also said that an impartial probe was necessary for ascertaining the guilty in the Kiliroor case.
He said that the party will launch agitations after the meeting of the BJP State Committee that will be convened on July 7.
BJP district vice president T.R. Narendran also attended the press conference.
