She had no godfather in the film industry. Neither did she belong to a particular ‘camp’. Yet, thanks to her commendable acting prowess, formidable screen presence and pretty looks, Gracy Singh made an impact as soon as she arrived, with blockbusters like Lagaan, Munnabhai MBBS and Gangaajal. But she sank into oblivion after that. However, the actress is now all set to make her presence felt once again with a string of her forthcoming films.
Among Gracy’s eagerly awaited films are, Filmalaya’s latest animation venture, Midnight, directed by Rajeev Ruia (who had directed My Friend Ganesha); By Chance Milta Hai Chance, a comedy in which Gracy is playing a radio jockey; Sujan Joseph’s latest project, Return Home, also starring Jackie Shroff; White Land, a true story about Gujarat’s salt workers, in which Gracy plays a blind sarpanch; Choodiyan, with Vinod Khanna and another issue-based film titled, Farmhouse. With such a wide gamut of roles, Gracy is sure to make the industry sit up and take notice — once again. Whether she will have a successful run the second time round remains to be seen.
