Nov. 10: Congress candidates, both official and rebel, are banking on YSR’s photographs and portraits to win the forthcoming elections to the GHMC. They say people love YSR and the developmental works taken up by him in city will see them emerge victorious at the hustings.
Political experts fear that the YSR factor may actually divide the vote between the official and rebel candidates. While the candidates fielded by the party have to necessarily display photographs of the AICC president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, and the PCC chief, Mr D. Srinivas, along with that of YSR, the rebels do not have any such mandatory guidelines.
A rebel Congress candidate from Marredpally ward said, “who will stop me from seeking votes in the name of our great leader YSR.”
Even official candidates agree that YSR is definitely a trump card for all of them, provided rebels are handled properly. Further, they say what ultimately matters in the polling booth is the Congress election symbol “hand” and they have it, not the rebels.
