New Delhi: After an unprecedented clean-up of the cricket team and with none of the Pakistani players featuring in the IPL, time is ripe for the PCB to pick and groom a team for the T20 World Cup that starts in the West Indies on April 30.

Former Pakistan players, on the phone lines with different news channels in India, have called it a "gigantic step" and lauded the effort of the board to "clean up the lack of discipline in the team".

Former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja said he was "surprised" by the move, "but at the end of the day the problem for the team has been discipline".

Meanwhile, Inzamam-ul-Haq reportedly is of the opinion that the team is still a formidable 20-over team and "will be amongst the favourites for this tournament."

For new coach Waqar Younis, the move would have come as a boon. Unlike his predecessor who was caught in a war of words, the clean up of the team is expected to give Waqar more teeth and control over the way the team is run and trained.
