Andhra Governor N.D. Tiwari resigns on health grounds

Andhra Pradesh Governor N.D.Tiwari has resigned. He submitted his resignation to the President on health grounds. The resignation comes close on the heels of the controversial sex tape case allegedly involving him. A statement issued by the Raj Bhavan described the tapes as fabricated and far from truth.

Earlier, a local TV channel played visuals showing alleged involvement of N.D. Tiwari in the case. The tape was stopped from being shown following directions by the Andhra High Court. Congress has welcomed the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Governor N.D. Tiwari. AICC Media Department Chief Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters that it is an appropriate decision keeping in view the high standards of public life. He said that Mr.Tiwari does not want to hold on to an office till it is proved that the video is false. Opposition parties including BJP, CPIM ,CPI and TDP had earlier demanded his resignation.
