 Dec 27 In Rajasthan, death toll in the collapse of a bridge under construction at Kota has risen to 28. The bridge over Chambal river collapsed on Thursday. 16 more bodies were recovered from debris on saturaday by the rescue team. About 40 persons are still trapped in debris. Today, divers of navy will start searching for the bodies in Chambal. Rescue operation is on with the help of army and other agencies.
AIR correspondent from jaipur said it is a very tough task to recover bodies from heavy volume of debris which is 8000 tons but rescue teams are continuously working . Divers of Navy are searching bodies in Chambal river. Big cranes of Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant and Kota Super Thermal Power Station are also clearing debris .About 40 bodies are still trapped in debris and rescue team is trying to recover them. Meanwhile, NHAI has also constituted an inquiry committee to investigate reasons of this accident while police has lodged cases against 12 more officials of 2 bridge construction companies.
