England skipper Andrew Strauss has insisted that he wants to continue in his role of being the captain until after the World Cup in the Indian subcontinent next year.
Strauss' comment came after national selector Geoff Miller claimed that the management "will think long and hard" about his position.
"It's absolutely my intention to be captain at the World Cup next year," The Sun quoted Strauss, as saying.
"I gave up Twenty20 cricket, but I'm not intending to make a decision like that in 50-over cricket. We've had preliminary chats about the one-day squad and we will speak through things on Wednesday," he added.
Strauss had led England to an ODI series victory in South Africa and the Champions Trophy semis, but Paul Collingwood's triumph in the Twenty20 World Cup has apparently given the selectors cause for a re-think.
"At this moment in time, Andrew Strauss is captain of the 50-over side. We will have a conversation with him. If we think it's right to go elsewhere, then we will do that, but it's about communication and everybody has to understand and accept the decisions we make," Miller said.
"We will think long and hard about it, but, at this moment, before the selection meeting, Andrew Strauss is captain of the 50-over side," he added.
England will announce their squad for one-day matches against Scotland (one), Australia (five) and Bangladesh (three) on Thursday. (ANI
