Ramanathapuram: A 15-year-old student delivered a baby inside a toilet of a private institution in Ramanathapuram and later abandoned it, prompting school authorities to issue her transfer certificate.
The teenager, who gave birth to the baby girl early this week, was issued a transfer certificate by the management of the institution on Wednesday after the issue snowballed into a controversy.
Chief Educational Officer Balasubramanian said "neither her parents nor the teachers were aware that the X standard student was pregnant as she was very fat."
According to a school official, the girl had sought permission to go to toilet in between the classes, but "after delivering the baby, she abandoned it there and returned to the classroom without informing anyone".
