The victim, Shilpa Raut's body was found in a steel trunk in suburban Goregaon on June 13.
Police arrested Neelam Srivastava (41) for murdering Shilpa as she suspected her of having an affair with her husband Vijaykanth Srivastava.
"Shilpa used to work at Vijaykanth's garment manufacturing company. On June 11, Neelam called Shilpa to her house in Goregaon and strangulated her to death," Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyanarayan Choudhury said.
Neelam then dumped the body into a trunk and took an auto rickshaw. "Neelam kept asking the rickshaw driver if they would be stopped by police for checking. When the driver grew suspicious and asked her what was in the trunk, Neelam confessed," Choudhury said.
The driver refused to ply further following which Neelam dumped the trunk at Goregaon.
"We are verifying the role of the driver. If it is found that he had aided Neelam, we would arrest him too," Choudhury said.
