Hyderabad:
A special CBI court on Monday permitted the Central Bureau of
Investigation to prosecute Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana
Prasada Rao and former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana under the
Anti-Corruption Act.
Upholding the CBI’s contention that no permission was required from the government to prosecute them, the CBI court has directed Dharmana and Mopidevi to appear before it on January 31.
The state cabinet had rejected the CBI’s request earlier to sanction Dharmana’s prosecution. However, the same file was rejected by Governor ESL Narasimhan.
Mopidevi Venkata Ramana has already been arrested by the CBI in the Vanpic segment of disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy.
In the changed scenario, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to accept the resignation of Dharmana Prasad Rao, sources said.
