Heavy rains pounded several parts of Orissa on Friday as the depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression, disrupting normal life and dampening Durga Puja celebrations.
Squally winds with speeds reaching 55-65 kmph would occur along and off Orissa coast, while sea condition would be very rough, the Meteorological department said. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
Puja festivities were dampened due to the rain.
