Caught in traffic, Sonia walks down to PM's residence

Delhi's notorious traffic, which often leaves the common Delhiites stranded, halted United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi's convoy at a busy roundabout in the city's Safdarjung area on Wednesday night.

The Congress president got a taste of the nasty traffic jam as she was travelling to the prime minister's residence at 7 Race Course Road for a dinner being hosted in the honour of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

At the Safdarjung roundabout, the convoy was caught in a peak hour traffic snarl as the road was closed for the smooth passage of Chinese premier's entourage.

However, instead of waiting in her car to take her to the venue which was merely 500 metres from the spot Sonia decided to walk the distance.

The move surprised her special protection group (SPG) commandos as Sonia took a brisk walk down the street to 7 Race Course Road.
