Congress MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will not float any new party though he is not happy with the attitude of the party high command, according to his loyalists. Talking to The Hindu, former minister for marketing M. Mareppa on Saturday indicated that Jagan would continue to expose ‘senior' leaders of the party, who had been misguiding the party leadership.
Mr. Mareppa has been with Jagan for the last three days during his Odarpu yatra.
“Jagan is the most popular leader in the State so his strength could not be underestimated. Rahul Gandhi can be prime minister in 2014 only when Jagan is allowed to become chief minister in the State. Without winning more seats in the Andhra Pradesh, it is not possible for the Congress party to retain power at the Centre,” said Mr. Mareppa.
“Opposition parties will be benefited if the party high command listens to the leaders, who don't have support of the people. They are only paper tigers. Only leaders like Jagan can strengthen the party and ensure victory in next elections. Jagan will not float any new party since he is a soldier of Congress party,” he added.
Several leaders from Prakasam, Nellore, Kadapa and Kurnool joined Jagan's yatra and expressed their displeasure over the diktat of party high command. “Congress MLAs have been elected only with the policies of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. But the party high command is not allowing them to participate in the yatra. It is unfair,” said M.Sudheer Reddy, a Congress leader of Nellore district.
