We have previously featured quite a few tools for users to take advantage of all the music that is shared on YouTube. It seems that after recently winning the lawsuit whereby YouTube was not held responsible for the copyright-protected content uploaded to its servers by users, the video-sharing service has decided to be bolder in promoting the plethora of content it has to offer.
“Our revamped music page – part of a redesign that started with our shows and movies pages – showcases the most viewed music videos, special promotions, curated playlists, unsigned talent and gives you the ability to create on-the-fly mixes. For example, in the mood for electronic beats? Just scroll down to that genre and click ‘play’ for an instant playlist. Looking for the latest viral music sensation? Check ‘Today’s Hits’...” wrote Michele Flannery, Music Manager on the official YouTube blog.
The page really does offer easy access to all sorts of things related to music. Sub-divided by genres, it’s easy to see what’s the most popular video right now. Clicking on the auto-generated playlists also helps in getting to listen to a whole bunch of new music. I’ve had the ‘Rock’ playlist running for the past hour instead of my own collection on WinAmp.
