New Delhi: A 20-year-old student of Delhi's Khalsa College was beaten to death by four unidentified youths on Monday. Police suspect it to be a case of rivalry among youths.
The incident took place in Sonia Vihar at around 6.30 am and the victim has been identified as Kamal, a BCom student of the college.
"Four persons pulled him inside a car and beat him up with iron rods," a senior police official said.
He was abducted from near Nankasar Gurudwara in E-block in Sonia Vihar. "After beating him up, they dumped him near Usmanpur jungles leaving him to bleed to death," the official said.
The officer added that some passersby noticed the victim and informed police who rushed him to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he died during treatment.
A case has been registered and efforts are on to identify the attackers. Some eye-witnesses have given clues about the identity of two of the attackers, police said.
However, police have not arrested anyone so far as they were verifying the facts.
The official said the boys were in their twenties and could be staying in the same locality. "It appeared that there was some kind of tension between groups of youths which led to youth's death. They had ego problems with each other," the official said.
Police is also investigating an input that Kamal had paid around Rs 75,000 to a mechanic for upgrading a motorcycle. However, as the mechanic could not deliver the motorcycle in time, Kamal was pressurising him.
"We were also told by some people that these four men came to teach Kamal a lesson for pressurising the mechanic. We are investigating all angles," the official said.
