Kolkata, Feb. 17 -- A message from a fan that was flashed on the big screen in the afternoon said GOD MUST BE SOUTH AFRICAN. Gary Kirsten and his boys will be happy if god remains neutral on Thursday. Weather had the last word here and the India coach was disappointed with the time lost in the morning. Play was supposed to start 18 minutes early on Wednesday, at 8.57 am, to make up for the overs lost to bad light on the third day. However, overnight rain meant play began at 10.30 am. While the square was covered, there appeared to be some problem with the bowlers' run up at the High Court end. "Obviously, this morning when we arrived here, we could have played. It was disappointing not to be on the field then. That's the way it is... we can't fight weather, but it would have been handy to have 50 overs today," Kirsten said. However, the coach, who was seen having an animated discussion with curator Prabir Mukherjee after the rain-interruption, refused to comment on the facilities at Eden. Instead, he chose to focus on the positives, like the "three wickets" India took and hopefully needing 40 or 50 overs to capture the rest on Thursday.
Jaques Kallis, who lost his wicket before a rain interruption in the second session, said: "I guess we were all hoping for a bit of rain. I think we will have a full day tomorrow. The pitch is still good for batting and what better opportunity will they have than score some runs on a day like this (the final day)."
