Another pre-paid Android handset has come available for those in Canada. The latest is the Motorola XT720 which is available by way of Wind Mobile. But perhaps more important, this addition brings a nice (and higher end) device in terms of Android.
At present Wind Mobile had an Android handset, it was the Huawei U8100 which is priced at $160. In terms of the Motorola XT720, this handset comes not only with a nice bump in terms of specs, but also price. It is on the pricey side of the Wind Mobile device lineup. The XT720 will set you back $430 which comes after a $20 rebate.
That said, it is important to remember that you are not signing on for any long commitments with Wind Mobile, hence the higher than normal sounding price. I should also point out that the rebate on the price is only available until September 30th.
As for the specs, the Motorola XT720, which is also called the Motoroi comes touting a 3.7 inch (480 x 854) WVGA display and Android 2.1. But that is just to begin, there is also an 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus and flash as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 1390 mAh battery, 512MB internal storage and a microSD card slot.
Othterwise, the Motorola XT720 ships with an 8GB microSD card, HDMI cable, microUSB cable and wired headset. And despite the picture of the handset (which comes by way of the Wind Mobile website) showing the phone in a gold-like color, the description notes the handset as being black.
Finally, in addition to the purchase price of the handset, Wind Mobile offers a variety of voice and data plans depending on your usage needs. From a look at the website the voice plans are priced at either $15, $35 or $45 per month and the data plans are priced at either $10, $20 or $35 per month.
