News Desk: Breaking News! Just like the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), opener Yasir Hameed also went into a denial mode and termed the "sting exposure" on him as inaccurate.
"I was t
rapped by 'News of the World'. I never brought match-fixing allegations against my teammates", said Hameed, who was summoned to the Pakistan High Commission in London to explain his stand over this issue.
The British tabloid 'News of the World' exposed Yasir Hameed in a sting operation. Hameed made startling claims on camera, saying his fellow Pakistani cricketers fixed almost all matches. He also questioned how Asif and Amir built large bungalows in a short period of their cricket career.
Hameed also claimed that he was tricked into saying the things heard on the video. What's an irony! He also alleged that he was offered money and even blackmailed to stand by his remarks on the video.
Here's Hameed's latest Statement:
"I was having dinner with a friend at the Holiday Inn, Nottingham on the evening of Monday, 30th August 2010. I was approached by a man, who introduced himself as Abid Khan.
Abid Khan alias Mazhar Mahmood offered me a sponsorship deal with ETIHAD Airways and said that I would get 50,000 pounds for the deal. He also asked me four more players who would be interested in the deal and I took the names of Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal and Fawad Alam.
I called up Umar Gul during the conversation and he asked me go ahead with the sponsorship deal. When Abid asked me about the ongoing match-fixing controversy, I started answering his question, considering him as a friend and potential agent.
