KAKINADA: Recalling the services rendered by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy to the State, Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Rural Water Supply Minister Pinipe Viswarup distributed assets worth Rs. 27.97 crore to the poor to mark the death anniversary of YSR here on Thursday.
Addressing a public meeting arranged by the district administration at Ambedkar Bhavan, Mr. Subhash Chandra Bose said even after one year of the death of the former Chief Minister, people were not willing to digest the fact that he was not there.
“Each and every family in this State got benefited from the welfare schemes launched by the late Rajasekhara Reddy during his six-year rule. He never compromised on implementing the welfare schemes,” he said.
Referring to schemes like fee reimbursement, he said that the former Chief Minister strongly desired to provide education to the poor students. Continuing the objectives of the late YSR was the only fitting tribute to the departed soul.
Mr. Viswarup said that no other political leader in the country dared to launch welfare schemes like Rajiv Arogyasri, free power supply to the farm sector, Jalayagnam and housing to the poor. “Andhra Pradesh has become a role model for many developing counties with regard to implementing the welfare schemes. Even in our country, States like Maharashtra have taken a cue from our State in implementing the free health insurance scheme,” he said.
Joint Collector K. Sasidhar recalled his association with the late YSR and said that East Godavari district was so special to the former Chief Minister that he visited the district for 38 times during his tenure as Chief Minister.
MLA D. Chandrasekhar Reddy presided over the meeting. Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch. Venugopala Krishnamurthy, MLC K.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju and others were present.
RAJAHMUNDRY: Youth Congress leader Mulla Madhav led different programmes on Thursday to observe first death anniversary of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Rajahmundry MP, MLA and MLC Vundavalli Arun Kumar, Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao and Kandula Durgesh respectively attended distribution of saris to women, dhotis to men and fruits and sweets to all pensioners in 37th Division.
In a meeting organised by City Congress in Congress Party Office, MP, MLA and MLC paid rich tributes to YSR and recalled his services to the poor and downtrodden. Particularly they emphasized Aarogyasri and increase of pension to old aged people. The MP said that state government will continue the dreams of YSR and all the schemes will run as usually.
Along with Youth leader Mulla Madhav, Nimishakavi Venkatesh, Arun, Sandeep, Varun and Anand participated in these programmes.
